This hands-on introduction to foraging will teach you how to spot, identify, and harvest wild edibles across Northern Ontario’s forests, shorelines, and wetlands. You’ll learn how to do it safely, sustainably, and with confidence. Take out the guesswork and apply real skills you can take back into the bush.
You’ll learn:
- How to safely identify common wild edibles and avoid dangerous look-alikes
- Foraging etiquette: confident positive ID, ethical harvesting, and where not to forage
- How to use field guides and tools to build confidence in the field
- Seasonal foraging basics and beginner-friendly species in Northern Ontario
What to Bring
- Notebook and pen or pencil
- Weather appropriate clothing, backpack
- Gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle
- Smart phone and/or camera
- Items to bring but not required – magnifying lens, collection bag, GPS, field guide
