School Closure

What Happens During a Weather-Related Closure

When severe weather or other events, such as heavy snow, power outages, or flooding, affect operations, the College’s top priority is keeping students, staff, and visitors safe. Our team monitors conditions closely to decide whether in-person classes and campus services should continue as scheduled, move online, or close temporarily.

How Closure Decisions Are Made

The College President or designate works with our Facilities team to review local weather and safety conditions early each morning. If closure or cancellation is needed, we’ll make every effort to inform our community by 6:45 a.m.

Unless otherwise indicated, a closure applies to all College locations, including any off-campus learning sites and student placements. Security remains on site (as possible) to ensure the campus stays protected, and our partners and tenants are notified so their operations can align with ours.

Some closures may affect only part of the campus. For example, if a specific building is impacted by flooding or a localized issue, only that area will close. We’ll share clear details in every announcement.

How to Find Closure Announcements

Whenever a closure or disruption occurs, updates will appear on the following channels:

  • Email to all students and employees
  • Learning Management System (LMS) and Student Portal updates
  • Text messages to designated staff groups and those opted in to Informa-cast

We’ll provide follow-up messages through the same channels when the College reopens or resumes regular operations.

For Students and Employees Off Site

College closures related to external factors (e.g. inclement weather) apply to all staff and students on and off campus. This includes but is not limited to offsite college operations and student placements. This does not supersede any governing policies or procedures affecting off-site college operations. If a program or placement manual is in place and includes specific direction related to weather-related closures, students will follow direction outlined in that manual. Students are encouraged to monitor their email for direction from their instructor before they leave for placement. For evening or weekend work, please check the usual communication channels before starting your travel. When unsure, connect directly with your supervisor for direction.
